Senate REdistricting for MONTCO

The proposed redistricting representation of Montgomery County in the PA Senate is misguided in the extreme. There appears to me to be little reason to NOT put all or almost of MONTCO in one Senate district. The majority of the objection to doing this appears to be from the current PA Senators who represent the various portions of MONTCO. Why? I believe they know they if they had to run in MONTCO alone they would likely have to run against one another, and one [or more] of them would likely lose their seat. The PA redistricting should be done on the basis of population by a TOTALLY independent Commission with NO representation by either party of the legislature. In MONTCO there is no reason not to have the new map reflect a situation for voters wherein "the best man or woman will win". If this redistricting cycle is a single-event transition to a new process and a new map the current legislators may have to run against a person of their own Party. The legislature should be focused on providing good service to their constituents, which would speak for itself in a political election. Legislators should have NO say in the contours of their district; they should represent the people of their district, not their own political self-preservation.
