Uniting East Falls with neighbors under one Rep.

Take this opportunity to unite the East Falls Neighborhood of Philadelphia together with its near neighbors - under one State Representative! Over the years, the East Falls neighborhood (19129) has been divided and represented by several State Representatives at the same time. We are currently represented in the 190th, 194th, and the 198th districts. The new redistricting is an opportunity to keep all of East Falls together – and to have the same elected official represent East Falls and the neighboring communities of the Lower Northwest. These communities are Manayunk, Wissahickon, Roxborough, and Andorra. They are connected by streets that run through the communities (Ridge Avenue, Main Street, and Henry Avenue). They share the same concerns – and public transit lines (buses and a regional rail line) run through them. The proposed redistricting, which assigns East Falls to a State House District based in West Philadelphia makes no sense at all. We are divided by a large barrier - the Schuylkill River. And the other part of the plan, which would make the 9th Ward (Chestnut Hill and Mt Airy) part of the current 194th District makes no sense either, as the Lower and Upper Northwest are separated by a large part of Fairmount Park. Along the approximately six-mile stretch of Henry Avenue, there are only two streets that connect the Lower Northwest (Roxborough and Andorra) with the Upper Northwest (Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy). These roads are Walnut Lane and Bells Mills Road. Please unite the 38th Ward – and place it all in the 194th District, with its near neighbors of Manayunk, Wissahickon, Roxborough, and Andorra. It is a logical decision for voters and representative alike.
