Common sense redistricting

It has always seemed very strange that the various districts around the state are drawn in very irregular shapes. From what I have read , according to the state constitution , districts are to made up of people of communities that are similar and drawn together in a common way. I can only speak about where I live in Broomall, Marple Twp. The major common unifier in our area is the Marple Newtown school district. This district serves Marple Township and Newtown Township for the most part and yet our two townships are split into two different legislative districts.. The two townships are combined with other townships serviced by other school districts. The taxes of both townships support the Marple Newtown school district. How in the world does placing the two townships in different legislative districts adhere to the state constitution. I can only guess this same practice is going on all over the state.
