Pennsylvania Legislative Reapportionment Commission: I write today to express my concerns over the proposed map for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Specifically, the proposed new 105th district and the proposed new 125th district. I am a lifelong resident of Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin County. I and many others in the Millersburg/ Upper Paxton Township community believe that Representative Sue Helm who represents the current 104th district has done a wonderful job being our representative and voice in Harrisburg. Under the proposed new House map, Representative Helm would have a completely different district and would no longer be our representative. She has done so much good for the people of our community and the entire current 104th district; it would be a true shame to lose her as our representative. Therefore, I respectfully request that this honorable commission redraw her district lines to exactly match the current 104th district (which includes Millersburg and Upper Paxton Township) that she currently represents. If more population is needed for her district, I would encourage this commission to add adjoining municipalities in Lebanon County. In a similar manner, I believe that the proposed 125th district needs to be changed. Representative Joe Kerwin is honorably serving in the armed forces of the United States and has proven himself to be a strong voice for his constituents in Harrisburg. Representative Kerwin represents many of my friends and family members who all agree that he has done a great job representing their voices and interests in Harrisburg. The 125th district should be redrawn to look as much as possible as it currently does. The communities that he represents in Northern Dauphin and Western Schuylkill counties fit well together in his district sharing similar cultures, values, beliefs, and interests. His district would likely need more population and if that is the case, I would encourage this honorable commission to take adjoining municipalities from Representative Twardzik’s district (current 123rd district) to add to the 125th district. Representative Twardzik’s district could then absorb municipalities as needed in the current 116th district in Luzerne County which is now vacant upon the election of Tara Toohil to the Court of Common Pleas. Respectfully Submitted, Brett W. Mauser Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin County
