State College

If you want our State Senators to be able to do their jobs and represent the interest of the areas they purportedly represent, then don’t unnecessarily split up populous towns with shared interests. The newly proposed Senate map cuts up State College PA and State College school District, which is an area that is more than reasonable to keep all together. When zooming in on the proposed map, I find the senate district line is drawn only a few blocks from my neighborhood, a dividing line that makes no sense to someone who lives in this area. The Senate map can and should be better—I have many more shared needs in common with people who live a few blocks away than we do with people who live on the Pennsylvania/New York border. In the interest of moving toward just and fair representation, I respectfully submit my comment ask that the Senate map be redrawn. I appreciate the opportunity to comment and am grateful for the transparency in this redistricting process.
