Objection to Redistricting!

These are my concerns and opposition to the redistricting effort for the state of PA The constitution of the state of PA GUARANTEES that the redistricting should avoid municipal splits… There is good reason for this … we should not be dividing communities of interest because, in so doing, you are diluting the voice of that community by infusing the voting district with demographics that do not represent the original district definition. Using Lancaster City as a case in point, this city has been proposed to be split. By taking thousands of votes from a Democrat city and redistributing them into suburban voting districts you are taking away the Republican voice that clearly defines the suburban district. Additionally, the resulting Lancaster city will still retain its Democratic voice - the only difference is that you have diluted the suburban district. This is intentional and needs to be discussed in the open so that the will of the people is represented. This clearly violates the intent of the PA state constitution. A perfect example of this having happened in recent years is Marple Township in Delaware County. A few years ago it was redefined to include Southwest Philadelphia, whose interests and issues are completely opposite of the suburban district. They have now lost their conservative voice in Congress. This is egregious and should be stopped. There should be hearings and /or questions identified on the ballet to ask voters if they want to be aligned with cities like Philadelphia and Reading and not attempt to push this change through without any citizen notifications or media exposure. This is a travesty. I urge you to stop this redistricting and put a hold on this effort until it can be properly vetted and understood.
