Testimony : https://www.redistricting.state.pa.us/comment/submission/957 It is claimed that the new 50th district exists in Lancaster County for more hispanic representation in the assembly. If this were true, why does it include Millersville Borough? Millersville is 78% white. If we want to give hispanic voters in Lancaster County more representation in the State House, we need remove Millersville Borough from the district, and make it include more of Lancaster City. This map provides for that. It changes the 50th district from 43% White, 37% Hispanic, 12% Black, and 4% Asian, to a district that is 41% White, 39% Hispanic, 12% Black, and 4% Asian. The Preliminary Map was not contigious, this map adjusts for that. The 41st had portions covered by the 96th, this map corrects this. It places East Petersburg back with the 37th district that has carried it for the last decade, and it creates a reunion of Manheim Township and Lititz, sister communities that have shared a state house district for decades. Additionally, Manheim Township's 7th district was split again needlessly. This map joins the two halves together again. At the very least, the preliminary map needs to fix Lancaster County. As a nearly lifelong resident, I know for certain Lancaster County's state house preliminary districts need changed. Thank you, and god bless you all!
