Keep Abbottstown Borough in 193rd District
December 23, 2021 To: PA House Redistricting Commission RE: Removal of Abbottstown Borough from the 193rd District On behalf of the Council of the Borough of Abbottstown, I would like to request that the Redistricting Map being proposed be amended to place our municipality back in the 193rd District, as opposed to being placed in the 91st District. Currently, we have intermunicipal agreements with many of our 193rd District neighbors for refuse haulers, E-cycling events, and other shared community services. Our boroughs and townships have been building good rapport for mutually beneficial projects, including support of the East Berlin Area Community Center (EBACC). Splitting us from our colleagues will create increased challenges as we work towards infrastructure improvements, which was well established with the incorporation of the Abbottstown/Paradise Joint Sewer Authority, which services several 193rd District municipalities. It just makes sense to leave well enough alone those things that we have been building over the past decade for the benefit of our residents.
