Comments on the State House Map

As a resident of Lancaster County, I am appalled by the newly redrawn state house maps, for multiple reasons. East Petersburg, where I am a resident, and surrounding Manheim Township have been dumped into the same district as Lancaster City, despite the two areas having little political or demographic similarity. Furthermore, Lititz and Warwick Township, which have both shared a representative with Manheim Township in the past, are now split in order to reduce the competitiveness of the district involved. The goal of this bipartisan redistricting commission was to draw more fair and evenly divided maps, but this house map has become the textbook definition of a gerrymander. I strongly urge the Supreme Court to strike down this map, and for Lancaster county districts to be drawn more compactly and less divided in a prospective new map.
