PA Legislative District 132

Stipulations in the PA Constitution that were incorporated in the guidelines put forth by the PA Redistricting Advisory Council state maps should minimization the division of political subdivisions – such as counties or, where possible, municipalities and school districts and should make arbitrary splits unless a division is necessary to preserve a cohesive–and clearly identified–community of interest. The current map for the 132nd Legislative District fails to meet these requirements as it: 1. Covers 2 different school districts (parkland and Allentown) which have vastly different demographics. 2. Splits Upper Macungie Township 3. Splits the city of Allentown 3. Combines Allentown which is a major municipality with commercial and suburban areas like Upper Macungie and South Whitehall. One could take a cynical view and say this was done to preserve the seat of a 5-term incumbent (Rep. Schlossberg) Rep Schlossberg has represented Allentown since taking office in 2012 but just recently moved to South Whitehall Township in 2020 - hence the inclusion of all of South Whitehall Township in the newly drawn 132nd. That is blatant gerrymandering - plain and simple. Please adjust the map to eliminate the partisan gerrymandering and to make it consistent with our state constitution and the guidelines put forth by the Redistricting Advisory Council.
