Comment - LRC Senate Districts - Dec 2021
In Philadelphia, the Latino community is split among four districts. It would be an improvement to create an opportunity district instead. The FDPA model map shows this can be done. Pennsylvania's population has shifted from rural to urban areas. Yet, the proposed LRC Senate map has created lower-populated districts in rural areas and higher-populated urban districts. This means that individual voters in rural areas and urban areas do not have the same power. The Pennsylvania Constitution requires districts to have populations as equal as possible. The discrepancy between district populations needs to be reduced.
