State senate and legislative maps
I have lived in St. Thomas Twp., Franklin County for more than 40 years. During that time, we have been seriously gerrymandered. Our state legislators and senators have been very far away. It has been very difficult to access our elected officials. The new proposed maps are a great improvement. The state Senate map puts Franklin County and Adams County together which is wonderful. We live 4 miles from Chambersburg. We would finally have a state senator that was close by and not 100 miles distant. The new proposed legislative map in which we would be in the 81st district, is an improvement. I would have liked to see St. Thomas as part of the 90th district but I understand that you try to keep the districts about equal in the number of constituents. At least a larger portion of Franklin County is included in the 81st district. I am pleased to see that effort was made to make districts compact.
