Schuylkill split is concerning

Moving Western Schuylkill out of the 125th and away from the rest of the county seems bad for business. Rep. Kerwin has done an excellent job serving the people of the 125th, and this move appears to hinder the will of the people of western Schuylkill County, and put surrounding county’s initiatives first. The makeup of the 125th District was far better with Pine Grove, Schuylkill Haven, and the surrounding Dauphin communities in it, as they were communities with similar interests. Secondly, while the 123rd is the most reasonable district in for Schuylkill, taking Mahanoy and Shenandoah from the already existing 123rd is concerning. The progress being made towards blight remediation in Schuylkill County, specifically in Pottsville, Minersville, Mahanoy City, Shenandoah and Frackville is now going to be broken, and now halted in Shenandoah and Mahanoy City and left to another representative who already has far different issues to deal with. Let’s open our eyes and see that the issues faced in the current districts require more thoughtful action, and that the 123rd and 125th would be better suited if they were both left in Schuylkill County, even if it means taking Pottsville from the 125th and adding it to the 123rd.
