Request for Exception

As a longtime resident of Moon Township I have reviewed the new map for redistricting. I was surprised to find Moon Township split into two different State House seats which would split our community at the center of the community, at Moon Park. The new map has voting districts 6, 8, and 12 of Moon Township moved out of the 44th State House district and moved into the 45th State House district. We need Moon Township to be together! Moon Area School District which encompasses all of Moon Township, should all be in one House district along with the Moon Township fire department service area and Moon Township police department service area. Additionally, Moon Township has greater connection to communities in the Quaker Valley School District than in those currently in the 45th State House District. Dealing with government is already difficult and the new maps would not make it any easier. It would be difficult and confusing for constituents to seek assistance, information or for areas of growth to have to seek financial assistance and grants from two different offices. State government is already difficult to navigate and this would just make it even more confusing and difficult for residents. Public confidence of our state elected officials is at an all time low. The map that splits our community in half just makes that worse and is not good for our community. Its just not practical. I hope you will ensure that our Moon community remains in one House district. Beth Feather
