Don't Crack Centre County Voters!

As a voter in Centre County’s incumbent-safe Districts for PA House and Senate, I have had little representation in Harrisburg for the last decade. I am both pleased and concerned about the proposed maps for 2020. The new PA House districts in the Centre Region will now be two! 77 and 82. The population here justifies that. Thanks for not cracking our area again. The new PA Senate district cracks the State College Area School District, the Penn State community and our Centre Region Council of Government areas into two new districts, 25 and 35. We’ll be scrunched in with regions to the north and west of us. This is problematic as we share few economic interests. I support Debbie Trudeau from Fair District’s revised map which puts all of SCASD into Senate 25. I appreciate the committee’s intense work on the mapping, but accommodating incumbents is NOT a purpose for redistricting. Now my area can be ignored in two senate districts. Please help our districting represent our citizen populations, which is the basis of legislator’s governing—not the other way around, where districts are drawn to keep incumbents in power. If they work for their constituents, they’ll be in power.
