Objection to the Redistricting Proposal

Hello, I am writing to ask for your help.  The PA Legislative Reapportionment Commission has drawn new boundary lines for our House of Representatives.  Currently Sugarloaf is part of the 116th and has been served by Former Representative Tarah Toolhill, who lives and has her office within a few miles of us.  In drawing the new lines, they have removed Sugarloaf from the 116th and placed us in the 117th with areas as far away as Dallas and Harvey's Lake, almost an hour away.  If the proposed changes remain, Sugarloaf will be disenfranchised from our Representative.  Especially in these complicated times, it is important for our community to be properly represented. Not only is access to representatives essential to the residents of a district but the representative must have an understanding of the community he/she represents. There is little if any similarity between the Sugarloaf and Back Mountain areas. The work force is different. The history is different. The needs of the community are different. Sugarloaf should remain in the 116th so as not to disinfranchise the constituents from their Representative.  Removing Sugarloaf from the 116th does not meet the principles of fairness and compactness set forth in the Pa State Constitution.
