letter to our community about redistricting
Dear Neighbors, As a lifelong Northeast Philadelphia resident, long serving Committee person and Ward leader I’m very concerned and unhappy with the new 2022 legislative redistricting maps in PA, especially in lower Northeast Philadelphia. The 35th and 53rd Wards in Burholme, Lawndale, Lawncrest and Oxford Circle are no longer in the 202nd Pa House District, they are now part of District 203 that is part of Olney and Logan. The 54th Ward located in upper Oxford Circle was taken out of District 174 and put in the new 202nd. The 54th Ward belongs in the 172nd for many reasons, if the members of the commission redoing the maps walked these neighborhoods, they would be able to better analyze all the neighborhoods in Districts 172, 202 and 203, then after seeing what I see and know, I respectfully recommend they put the 54th Ward back into the 172nd and Wards 35 and 53 back into the 202nd.
