Thank You to Chair Nordenberg

Thank you for an even handed, calm and thoughtful style in chairing the commission. It has been a breath of fresh air. Centre County has more Fair Districts members per capita than any other county in PA. We have been aggrieved by our gerrymandered house districts with the current four representatives of 76, 77, 81, and 171. We are pleased with the two districts that focus on keeping the State College School District with like minded representatives within Centre County. It would be even better if Bellefonte was included since we share an economic corridor along I-99. Leader Benninghoff will object because he'll either have to defend his seat, or perhaps he lives outside downtown Bellefonte and will be part of the new 171 that extends to Juniata County. We notice with distress that the new Senate map has the old S-34 evaporate away to the southeast counties. All of Sen. Corman's current constituents will be divided between S-25 and S-35. This doesn't pass the smell test knowing that he won't be running for the Senate again. The split of Centre County rams through the middle of our State College school district, Centre Region Council of Government Region, and the Penn State University community. PLEASE, PLEASE put us back together in one district or the other. We have over 200,000 citizens in our left leaning region. Both 25 and 35 will likely be Republican strongholds, but at least give our region a single strong voice to represent us. We have endured an agonizing similar split between Congress 12 and 15 ever since the 2018 redraw. We bear that burden knowing the 2018 redraw improved the overall state ratio. However, please do not again set Centre County up to be ignored by two Senators for the next 10 years. Much better to expand a northern region district than to chop up fast growing southern Centre County. An even better solution is to use the FDPA Senate People's Map, here at https://davesredistricting.org/maps#viewmap::65789822-734e-4c4a-97fa-b17ee0b44a91.
