Proposed State House districts

Nine of Delaware County’s 17 school districts are split into multiple House districts. Although the county's unusual boundaries in its oldest towns make it a challenge for redistrictors, every effort should be made by the LRC to avoid school district splits. In particular, three school districts which struggle with lack of resources and with educational attainment should be kept whole: Chester-Upland, Southeast Delco, and William Penn, in order for them to receive the attention they need. The Wallingford-Swarthmore School District, which has practically no business to generate taxes, is also split into 3 proposed House districts. School districts should be kept together in one House district to the largest extent possible. For the first time ever, citizen voices have been considered in the drawing of maps and will be part of the final revision process. Thank you, Chairman Nordenberg and team, for your responsive and difficult work.
