North Allegheny School District
Dear LRC Members: My name is Arvind Venkat. I am a resident of McCandless Township and the North Allegheny School District currently contained within the 28th PA House District. I strongly believe that the North Allegheny School District, consisting of McCandless Township, Franklin Park, Marshall Township, and Bradford Woods, is a community of interest and should not be split as currently drafted. Splitting most of McCandless township from its school district will weaken our representation in Harrisburg. I would also urge you to consider that the 28th legislative district has a rising Asian American population and keeping it intact will allow appropriate representation of that population. I would urge that Pine Township be moved to the adjacent 30th HD with Richland Township as that is a contained school district and therefore a community of interest. That would allow the two school districts here to remain under intact State house representation and keep the 28th district intact with its rising Asian American population.
