Dauphin County Deserves Better
As a resident of Dauphin County, I am deeply concerned with the proposed new state House districts. The proposed districts are simply not consistent with our long-standing communities. There are multiple splits of municipalities that never existed before and have no sound reason to exist now. In addition to one House district now going over into Cumberland County, the city of Harrisburg is being split into two districts as well as Lower Paxton Township being split in half. Lower Paxton by itself has a population (53,000) that can nearly be an entire House district by itself. These communities deserve equal representation in Harrisburg and it’s evident these proposed districts do not deliver that.
