Re: Redistricting of Philadelphia County Ward 54
I am the current Republican Ward Leader of Ward 54 in Philadelphia County. I was very unnerved to hear that the PA Redistricting Commission was considering removing Divisions 10, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22 from the 172nd District, and moving those divisions to the 202nd District. I think this would be a mistake and cause harm to the community. Redistricting would take away representation from Ward 54 citizens, not enhance it. It would lessen the voices of my neighbors and community members. Ward 54 has one of the most diverse citizen populations in Philadelphia County. A wonderful mixture of cultures and ethnicities knit into one neighborhood. All of my neighbors’ voices need to be heard, and all of our citizens are constitutionally guaranteed fair and uncompromising representation. I would respectfully request that the PA Redistricting Commission not redistrict the seven affected divisions within Ward 54 from the 172 District into the 202nd District.
