Cumberland County Redistricting

While the new Congressional maps have done a good job for the most part in balancing out the population sizes, they have not taken into account the district economic, educational or geographic ties. Where I live, Cumberland County is broken up into 5 districts. I live in Mt Holly Springs which is in the Carlisle School District which is also where many of our residents work. Carlisle is in the 199th District, while Mt Holly is in the proposed 87th District now. We had a similar problem with the last redistricting being placed in the 193rd District. The Borough of Mechanicsburg has several of wards in different Districts as does South Middleton Township. The 193rd District resides in both Adams and Cumberland County and the 103rd District consists of Cumberland and Dauphin Counties.. The 193rd is divided by the Appalachian Mountain chain and the 103rd is divided by the Susquehanna River. Cumberland County has a population of 257,729 and if kept intact it could form 4 districts 64,432 instead of its 5 scattered districts. I believe this would yield to more consistent governance.
