Use Fair Districts PA recommendations for 200th

As a resident of Chestnut Hill, I want to urge the Legislative Redistricting Commission (LRC) to. use the map offered by Fair Districts PA as an alternative to the LRC’s proposed new boundaries for the 200th legislative district. The LRC change does an injustice to the historical and geographical connection of Chestnut Hill with its adjacent communities of Mount Airy and Germantown. The Fair Districts PA map essentially maintains the current boundaries of the 200th district, so that Chestnut Hill and Mount Airy remain together. We are fairly new to PA, having moved during the covid peak from NC. Even in to this short time, we can see that Chestnut Hill, Mount Airy and Germantown are closely linked, while I’ve never even been to the other towns included in the new map. It certainly seems that the former boundaries meet redistricting goals (compactness, contiguity, population distribution, political community cohesiveness, partisan fairness and racial fairness), so there is no good justification for making this change. Thank you for the opportunity to provide input as you proceed with your work. Helene Hilger
