equality of votes

The LRC draft map for drawing legislative districts is unacceptable. In a county that is evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans, a legislative map that has only two competitive districts ignores a core principal of our Republic, equality before the law and the belief that votes of citizens should have equal weight. A gerrymandered map basically tells the losing side in the non competitive districts that their vote doesn't count. They might as well not vote in the general election. In a fractious time when many citizens have lost confidence in our democracy, it is vital that we have fair districts that don't throw away the votes of citizens!
