Redistricting - The Slate Belt
The Slate Belt located in northern Northampton County for years has been ignored by elected officials on the county and state levels while the monies to improve services have been redirected to the cities of Easton, Bethlehem and the surrounding areas. The Slate Belt finally has the representation it deserves. Carving Portland Borough and Upper Mount Bethel Twp. (UMBT) out of the Slate Belt weakens the voice of the residents of the Slate Belt not to mention splitting the Bangor Area School District. Portland Borough and UMBT needs to remain in Northampton County, the school district remains in tack and the elected officials the residents of the Slate Belt voted into office continue to represent us.
