Bucks County Redistricting
Like many residents of Bucks county, I'm concerned about the pending changes being suggested by the Redistricting Panel. I moved here from California in 1986 and have viewed the destruction of that states balanced government through divisive tactics for many years. It could easily happen here in Pennsylvania as well. Changing long held practices for 'change sake' or 'because we can' is never a wise idea and it stands to disrupt a system that has been working very well for a very long time. Often, these changes are NOT in the interest of the average citizen/voter but more to advantage the political power brokers looking to lock in blocks for increased personal control of agenda driven goals. This redistricting disenfranchises more than empowers residents, in my opinion. Party oriented blocks do not make for better government or better solutions to common problems because they bypasses the need for discussion, consensus and compromise in selection of representation from either end of the political spectrum. If we are seeking the Common Good and full representation of ALL voters positions, we need more discussion and consensus building on representation not block voting patterns by party.
