PA House District 31 is non-competitive

I am a resident of Upper Makefield and like others in this community I enjoy knowing that I will be represented by candidates who are committed to the values we hold dear. This is possible because our elections have been competitive, with R’s and D’s having to make their case to all voters across the community. The proposed redistricting in Bucks County for our township is non-competitive and gives the D’s a clear election advantage based on party affiliation and independent of the positions they may hold on key issues. While requirements of shape, size and contiguity may have been met, the balance between parties is unfortunately biased, which is remarkable given that right next door, the neighboring district appears to lean heavily R. It would be critical to revisit the lines being drawn to strike a better, more competitive balance, and let a candidate’s position on the issues motivate voting and not simply party affiliation. Thank you.
