Keep Etna, Millvale and Sharpsburg together

We are writing to issue a strong statement of support for a redistricting map change to keep the boroughs of Etna, Sharpsburg, and Millvale together in the 21st state house district and 38th state senate district. Our communities share a strong and longstanding history of multi-municipal collaboration and have developed several shared systems, such as a comprehensive plan, shared zoning, and mutual aid among our first responders. Most recently, our three communities came together to form the Triboro Ecodistrict, a collaboration of residents, small business owners, nonprofit organizations, and elected officials who work together to bring positive change to our boroughs. The Triboro Ecodistrict promotes coordinated sustainable community development throughout the Boroughs of Millvale, Etna and Sharpsburg. With over 10,000 residents combined, these Allegheny River towns are building on a strong collaborative history to promote sustainable community development. Our three river towns share similar demographics and have a shared history of environmental trauma and economic decline. However, due to our multi-municipal collaboration, we are shaping a bright future for all three communities. This has been done with valued support from our local representatives who, regardless of the individuals who have held the office, have understood the shared nature of our unique challenges and worked with us to help solve them. Our communities border the City of Pittsburgh and are unique urban riverfront villages. We have benefitted from having a shared representative that understands our collaborative values and goals. If we are regrouped, we risk losing the positive momentum that we have worked so hard as a collaborative to achieve. Thank you for your consideration, The Advisory Committee Members of the Triboro Ecodistrict
