Comment on Redistricting

Although I understand that the committee has attempted to divide the districts equally according to population, however the individual is not being considered in this redistricting. We have resided in West Murrysville since 1989 and spent most of those years separated from Murrysville and Westmoreland County until 2010 when we were then reunited with our community in District 54. Prior to 2010 this small section or Murrysville was represented by District 25. During that time, although the Representative of District 25 provided for various grants to the Murrysville community, he was not privy to the concerns and issues facing Westmoreland County. When you separate counties and communities the individual concerns of the residents in that county are not a priority to the Representative which is understandable since they are not part of that community. Additionally, if you are separated from your community, how can you vote in local elections for such offices as mayor, school board, etc.? Therefore, I encourage the committee to do all they can to keep representation that both addresses the numbers while keeping communities and counties intact thereby serving the constituents living within the assigned districts. To separate us is not promoting representation which should be a priority for the committee.
