Appeal To Keep Upper Chichester In 160th District

Dear Legislative Reapportionment Committee, I respectfully submit the following comments in hope that you will reconsider the preliminary proposal of your committee to place seven (7) precincts of Upper Chichester Township, which are currently in the 160th district, into the 159th district. With all due respect to our adjacent districts, I believe the interests and issues of the Upper Chichester community, which is comprised of the historic towns of Boothwyn, Twin Oaks, and Ogden are mirrored by our sister towns in the present 160th district, Bethel and Concord townships. The present 160th district is comprised of these communities of interests connected by everything from shopping centers, zoning issues, business communities, to service clubs and more. Our current representation champions our common causes, dividing our towns will adversely affect the representation Upper Chichester has come to know and trust. A specific example of just one of the many reasons to remain in the 160th district is the involvement of our representative in the planning, oversight, and problem solving of local issues concerning the state highway 322 expansion project. As we move into the phase of the project coming through Upper Chichester, I believe our current representative’s familiarity and experience during the previous phase of the project through Bethel and Concord township will be invaluable to our residents and businesses affected by the upcoming construction. I believe our communities of interests that includes the historic towns of Boothwyn, Twin Oaks, Ogden, and the suburban/rural towns of Bethel and Concord share a common past, present, and future. I respectfully ask that the Reapportionment Committee allow the precincts of Upper Chichester presently in the 160th to remain in the 160th. Thank you for your considerations, Frank Sill Resident of Ward 4, Upper Chichester Township
