Hacking up Montgomery County

Montgomery County with a population that could be 3.2 districts is hacked into 6 districts with only 1 district completely in Montco. By comparison Philly with a population that could be 6.19 districts is divided into 8 with four of those completely in the city limits. As you look at the map from west to east Allegheny county which isn't growing as fast as Montco is neatly divided into 5 district all within the county lines with a deviation of -47,698 while all the districts that are part of Montco have a deviation of +47,878, giving us representation that will only diminish over the decade. Until you get to Berks county with 3 splits the districts appear more in keeping with the constitution. But as you get closer to SE PA the districts are less and less compact and keeping with the intent of the constitution, dividing counties, school districts (communities of interest), etc. Even with the best-intentioned and hard-working representatives, the proposed Senate map unnecessarily puts together different communities with different needs. This map impedes our elected officials’ ability to advocate effectively and leads to confusion in the county as to who our legislator is. You can do better for SE PA and Montgomery County
