West Mount Airy

We live in West Mount Airy. Geographically and culturally we and our neighbors are tied to Chestnut Hill and the amenities around Germantown Avenue. Our ties and links here are with our neighbors in Chestnut Hill and the Germantown Avenue corridor; where we meet, shop, gather and listen to music. This community is culturally linked in it's deliberate support and enjoyment in diversity and shared history over generations. Even if not geographically separated from Manyunk, local ties are not with folks in Manyunk. We do not know the name of one single person in Manyunk after living in Mount Airy for years... we go to eat there sometimes but never connected. All our contacts locally are to the East of the Wissahickon Valley. We shop, meet, mix, congregate, listen to music and socialize with great affinity and have many friends in and outside or homes. With Manyunk there is nothing. Mount Airy has much shared history, historical place and Street names tying Mount Airy forever with Chestnut Hill and the Germantown Avenue corridor. We would be better to add part of Germantown to our Mount Airy district due to do many linkages in friendship and music in particular. We are almost cut off from Manyunk physically by the Wissahickon gorge.
