Protect the Juniata Valley - District 82
I would like to write today to request that you please revisit the redistricting of the 82nd district impacting Juniata and Mifflin Counties. The Juniata Valley is a wonderful small rural community in central Pennsylvania situated between Harrisburg and State College. These Juniata and Mifflin Counties make up the Juniata Valley and are geographically separated from other areas by mountains. The demographics are very alike and many of the residents have similar occupations and needs. In our history, these counties have countless community services that are shared and joined and would be severely impacted by the new redistricting map. The healthcare systems, school systems, vocational and technical programs for our students, tourism, local club sports teams, state police barracks and so many other organizations work together to support our small community. If this district is divided in the manner which is suggested, I fear that these programs would not be able to support the community as they always have. I ask the Reapportionment Commission to please take a closer look at these two counties and how unified their services currently are and how a change to this would greatly impact all of the residents of the community.
