Gerrymandering to the extreme

The map drawn and passed by the LRC is one of the worst examples of political gerrymandering in PA history. It will shift one-third of PA voters into a new legislative district, affecting over 200,00 voters -- all for the sole purpose of cementing political control in the hands of the the party currently in the majority in the PA Legislature. While gerrymandering is an ages-old practice, the map at issue here is an egregious, even, unconstitutional, action that will result in the disenfranchisement of thousands of PA voters. At least two of the affected districts, the 143rd (in which I reside) and the 178th, are those in which control has been shifting back and forth between parties. It is manifestly inequitable and unfair to large numbers of PA voters, myself included.
