Keep Manheim Township whole

Lancaster City and Manheim Township are so closely linked that when I first moved to Lancaster 10 years ago, I noticed that City residents referred to Manheim Township simply as "Township," and treated it almost like an extension of the city. These municipalities have long been part of a closely linked community that also includes neighboring Lancaster Township, even if their official borders look like Swiss cheese in spots. The previous House map did a disservice to Manheim Township by cutting it off from Lancaster City, and instead placing it in a district with Warwick Township, an area of Lancaster County that has much different legislative needs, and thus deserves discrete representation. The LRC’s proposed map partially corrects this, but carves out a chunk of eastern Manheim Township and sticks it into a district with the much more rural Conestoga and Manor Township, while separating it from Lancaster Township. As the Fair Districts PA maps demonstrate, it is possible to keep Manheim Township whole, while also allowing it to join Lancaster City in a new district that more accurately represents the region. Please do not break up our community!
