Lackawanna County

Lackawanna County is a community of interest in Northeastern Pennsylvania that has enough population to contain the majority of a senate district. The current plan has senate district 22 with about 9,000 too many citizens. It should only be fair that Lackawanna county remain whole while creating senate district 22, instead shedding parts of Luzerne County to lower the population deviation. Historically, Lackawanna County has not been split in a senatorial district since 1937, almost 100 years ago, when compared to other areas of the commonwealth, Lackawanna county had a much higher percent of the population. Because of this, as well as the fact that the communities of the county are intertwined through school districts and other organizations, it is completely fair and impartial that SD 22 contain the majority of Lackawanna County.
